I LOVE living in the country!

I LOVE living in the country!

My dear son made this innovative birdfeeder this week at Vacation Bible School...It was hanging on the porch but there were no aviary visitors so I decided to move it to the tree! Well, we FINALLY got some customers tonight just before bed! Isn't this awesome! The male bird watched on as his female companion ate her fair share of the seeds! Every now and then, he'd pop over to snag a morsel or two himself! I just love this image!

I'm SO happy I caught this moment! It's this kinda stuff the kids will remember! Although, I'm not sure who was more excited about it! Me or the kids!! My DS decided today he'd use the word AWESOME though! (appropriately I might add!) I think he's been hanging out with some older kids in VBS! :D

Sorry this is a proud Mommy moment! I had to share about this! DS was so thrilled!!

Here's another favorite!

Thanks for visiting today!

A Lady who Thinks She is Thirty by Ogden Nash

Today is Ogden Nash's birthday...well, was his birthday...who the heck is Ogden Nash you say?  He was an American poet who was well known for his light-hearted, witty poetry that delights the hearts of those young and old!

In my search of Ogden Nash poems, I found this one and thought it was very fitting for me this year! (Remember I turned 30 WAY back in March!) I have changed the name just for my own sake!

A Lady who Thinks She Is Thirty
by Ogden Nash *
Adapted by Amanda Newton

Unwillingly Amanda (Miranda*) wakes,
Feels the sun with terror,
One unwilling step she takes,
Shuddering to the mirror.

Amanda (Miranda*) in Amanda's (Miranda's*) sight
Is old and gray and dirty;
Twenty-nine she was last night;
This morning she is thirty.

Shining like the morning star,
Like the twilight shining,
Haunted by a calendar,
Amanda (Miranda*) is a-pining.

Silly girl, silver girl,
Draw the mirror toward you;
Time who makes the years to whirl
Adorned as he adored you.

Time is timelessness for you;
Calendars for the human;
What's a year, or thirty, to
Loveliness made woman?

Oh, Night will not see thirty again,
Yet soft her wing, Amanda (Miranda*);
Pick up your glass and tell me, then--
How old is Spring, Amanda (Miranda*)?

hehe! :D Just thought I'd post this for fun and for Mr. Nash's birthday! You know darn well I'll be using this for a layout in the scrapbook album!

Hello to all the teachers out there!

The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring "Paper Playtime" this week!
The challenge is SCHOOL DAYS!  You should check it out!

AllAboutKimberly

I posted this layout for the DT project but wanted to create a cute card with the Blackboard stamp. (which is on sale right now for $1.50)

This is my card though...I added the coffee cup oh, and I added the paper airplane...it's a run-on from Basic Grey. I thought it was PERFECT for a classroom!

So, I'm going to give this card away...all you have to do is become a follower (or post that you already are a follower)...and take a guess on how I did the "Hello"...

I'll leave this up till August 25th...(that gives just over 2 weeks!) Just take a wild guess if you don't know! If there's more than one right answer, I'll do a random draw for the winner! This could be a great way to say hello to your kids' new teachers!!

Thanks for visiting today!

Bonne Fete Mamere

Happy Birthday Mamere!
(Isn't she beautiful? :D I love this photo of her!)

Today would have been my Mamere's birthday. She would have been 79 years old today. But she passed away in September 2002. Even after 8 years, I still miss her.

I drove by the graveyard today where she's buried. I think of her everytime I drive by there. I guess you don't really realize who you will miss the most until they are gone.

Tonight, I say an extra prayer for Mamere and know she's looking down on me and smiling. I wish she could have met my kids. I think she would have loved them!

Au Revoir Mamere! Je T'aime!
