Honouring 9/11

(See below for 9-11 post from Sassy Studio Designs!)

The Stamping Boutique is honouring those that are still fighting the war that was started 9 years ago...whenever you hear 9-11, do you remember where you were? Do you remember what you were doing? I do...I had just picked up my car at the mechanics. I was dating a guy that worked at the local radio station and I usually listened to his show...well, I got into the car and turned on the radio and there was nothing except audio of what had JUST happened. I believe it was 8:55am when I got in the car so they were doing the breaking news. I headed to work and normally we had the country music blaring but that day, we were glued to the local radio talk shows. Not much was said at lunch or break times. I think everyone was wondering what had triggered these events!

Tracey has created a WONDERFUL Canadian soldier (kind of looks like a Marine which is great because my grandfather was in the Marines - overseas so it's not completely the same but he turned out great!

I have made 5 cards! Operation Write Home is doing a challenge this week to so head on over to their site for the details. Plus you can see how you can send cards to the soldiers.

Here are the ones I'm sending:

And this one I'm giving to my friend Melissa if she wants to send a card to her nephew who just left at the end of August for basic training! Hope all is going well Will!

Great cards Amanda! And yes, although 9/11 happened on American soil, we were all affected. We mustn't forget that our Canadian soldiers are also serving as a result.

Oh Manders..now I am crying too! Thanks for the card idea. We sent out a package of letters to him this past Wednesday! He sounds like he is really missing home..nothing like moms home cooked meals! Ahd his allergies are horrendous so it just makes for an uncomfortable situation. Hoefully talking to him in the next few weeks!

Those are great cards you made. Do you have the link handy for Operation Write home?

Wow, Amanda - you've been busy and all your cards are wonderful!! I think everyone remembers where they were that day, I'm in the UK and was off on maternity leave with my baby son and I'll never forget seeing the news and then being absolutely glued to the television all day as the stories unfolded and more terrible events were revealed. I just sat there in disbelief and kept saying 'things like this just can't/don't happen'. But they did and I feel proud today, to have been able to have honoured all those involved in whatever small way I can.
Blimey - super long comment - sorry!! Hugs, Marie xxx
